It is with great pleasure Green University Language Center (GULC) would like to share that GULC in collaboration with the British Council successfully organized the prize giving ceremony of British Council Book Reading Competition on February 15, 2022. Winners of the competition received their awards from the honorable guests while all the participants received their certificates for participating and completing the book reading program.


The British Council Book Reading Competition is to encourage the students to develop and nurture their reading habit. A total number of 879 students in summer 2019 and 907 students in fall 2019 participated in the book reading competition. That makes a grand total of 1786 participants from different departments of Green University of Bangladesh.
Shibly Bin Sarwar and Sabbir Hasan Tohid were awarded as the winner of the summer and fall event respectively and Shamiha Yesmin and Chowdhury Shajjad Haider were awarded as runners-ups. Each of the winners had received the Certificate of Distinction and a laptop computer as the prize when both the runners-up had been awarded with Certificates of Merit and android tablets. The prize giving ceremony was arranged at the city campus of GUB with the presence of honorable guests, faculty members and award winners. To maintain Covid protocol other participants had to join the ceremony virtually through zoom.
Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of GUB was the Chief Guest in the prize giving ceremony . Ms. Serajum Munira, Director of GULC was the session chair and the faculty members of GULC were also present in the ceremony. Ms. Tabassum Islam Nabanee, Lecturer, GULC, conducted the session which started with a welcome speech by the session chair, Ms. Serajum Munira. Then both the winners shared their feelings and that part of the ceremony was followed by the encouraging speech by the chief guest, the honorable Vice-Chancellor of GUB, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir. After his speech, certificates were displayed and the prizes were handed over to the winners and runners-up.
