Fourth Convocation 2021
The 4th Convocation of Green University of Bangladesh was held on June 19, 2021, in virtual space using Zoom. Honorable Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP chaired the convocation ceremony as the representative of His Excellence the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid, the Chancellor of the university and conferred degrees on the graduates.
Prof. Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman of Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) was present as the Convocation Speaker while Mr. Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP, Deputy Minister of Education and Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, member of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh delivered their speeches as the special guests. Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun, Chairman of BOT; Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman, Treasurer of the university also spoke on the occasion.
A total of 1,464 graduates received degrees in this convocation. Six students received Chancellor’s Gold Medal and thirteen were awarded Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal.
The Honorable education minister Dr. Dipu Moni, said the government understands the importance of education and thoroughly emphasizes education for all. So we are giving utmost priority to ensure facilities for people of all walks of life so that they can have an access to the amenities so that we can ensure their education from the primary level up to the highest stage. She said the government is working hard to reach higher education at the doorsteps of the people around the country. So, we are committed to establishing one university in every district of the country.
Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said, Convocation is a very important occasion for every student. He expected the graduates of Green University will soon enter professional life and contribute to the development of the society.
Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, the honorable Vice-Chancellor, said Green University of Bangladesh has always been focused on renewal, reformation, and innovation. We emphasize inclusive education and aims at producing graduates who are ethically driven, socially responsible, and academically sound. He expected the graduates of GUB are to utilize their knowledge and skills for the improvement of the socio-economic development of the country.
Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor said that we are presenting our graduates to our nation in the year that represents the 100th birth anniversary of the greatest leader the world has ever witnessed and the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
All the members of the Board of Trustees, Syndicate, Academic Council, distinguished guests, guardians and parents, ambassadors, journalists along with respected faculty members and students were present in the convocation ceremony. The ceremony ended with a colorful presentation of various cultural events in the virtual space.
The 4th Convocation ceremony of Green University of Bangladesh, organized in virtual space and live telecasted by various online news media and social networks, was highly appreciated by reputed academicians, distinguished guests, and participants as a highly well-organized, well-presented, and entertaining one.
Third Convocation 2018
The 3rd Convocation of Green University of Bangladesh was held on January 17, 2018 at the Permanent Campus of the university, Purbachal American City. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP was the key man of the convocation ceremony as the representative of the President and Chancellor of the university and conferred degrees on the graduates.
Besides this, Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman of UGC delivered speech as the special guest while Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun, the Chairman of BOT, Convocation Speaker Prof. Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman, Economist and Chairman of PKSF, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, the VC and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Pro VC of the university also spoke on the occasion.
A total of 1,461 graduates received degrees in this convocation. Six students received Chancellor’s Gold Medal and ten were awarded Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal.
The education minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, the government continues to give higher education its top priority among others sectors in Bangladesh. Keeping this in mind, the power of knowledge should be spread among the people who are less enlightened in our society. We have to work with honesty and prove ourselves through good work and ability.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, said, Convocation is very important occasion for every student. He expected, the graduates of Green University will soon enter in the professional life. He mentioned, As memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of Green University with US-Bangla Group, Competent Graduates are guaranteed to get job in ten sister concern institutions of US-Bangla including US-Bangla Airlines.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Golam Samdani Fakir said, the graduates are to utilize their knowledge and skills for the improvement of the socio-economic condition of the country.

Second Convocation 2016
The 2nd Convocation of Green University of Bangladesh was held on February 18, 2016 at International Convention City Bashundhara. Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, the hon’ble Education Minister, People’s Republic of Bangladesh presided over the convocation ceremony as the representative of the hon’ble President and Chancellor of the University, Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid and conferred degrees on the graduates. Prof. Abdul Mannan, the hon’ble Chairman, UGC of Bangladesh delivered the Convocation Speech. However, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, the VC of the university and Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun, the Chairman of BOT of the university also spoke on the occasion. A total of 1536 graduates received degrees in this convocation. Four students received Chancellor’s gold medal and seven students were awarded Vice-Chancellor’s gold medal.
In his speech, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid said that only educated population could ensure democracy, social-political and cultural rights of the people. The Minister urged the university authority not to limit the education to only certificate giving but also to provide effective and realistic education to produce good human beings in their real life. He mentioned that the present Govt. under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to build Bangladesh as a modern and digital Bangladesh.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun stated that Convocation is a very important and sacred occasion. The graduates would soon enter into the professional life. He further vowed to commit to the expansion of the academic programs and removal of the obstacles for the benefit of the university. The Trustee Board would do everything for the development of the university, he added. He further said that the Trustee Board had recently extended facilities for students providing lab equipments, books, and a large number of computers. He also quoted that the construction works of permanent campus of GUB had already started and would be complete very soon.
The Vice-Chancellor of GUB, Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, urged the graduates to utilize their knowledge and skills for the improvement of the socio-economic condition of the country mentioning that till date they were the students. After the occasion they are going to enter into a new world. Their proud achievements need to be utilized for positive changes in the society.
Convocation Speaker Prof. Abdul Mannan said that the private universities are fulfilling the increasing demand of the society for education. As the seats for admission in public universities are very limited, many students get frustrated without getting an opportunity for admission there. This is the common picture every year. In this case private universities provide them with the opportunity for higher education. Earlier, many of them crossed borders to get admitted in foreign countries. All the members of the Board of Trustees, Syndicate, Academic Council, distinguished guests, guardians and parents, ambassadors, journalists along with respected faculty members and students were present in the convocation ceremony.
First Convocation 2012
GUB held its First Convocation, a solemn and sacred graduation ceremony, on 16 February 2012 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) to award degrees to more than four hundred graduates. The Honorable Education Minister, Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, on behalf of the Honorable Chancellor and the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, presided over the Convocation ceremony and conferred degrees to the graduating students. Dr. Serajul Islam Choudhury, Emeritus Professor, Department of English, University of Dhaka, was the Convocation Speaker. All graduating students and their proud families were invited to the Convocation.
