Prof. Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab Joins Green University as Dean of the Faculty of Law

Renowned scholar and educationist Prof. Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab has joined Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) as Dean of the Faculty of Law. Before joining GUB, she served as the Associate Dean in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Science of Daffodil International University (DIU).


Professor Dr. Farhana started her professional life as a practicing lawyer in Dhaka. She also served at the Asian Institute of Management & Information Technology (AIMIT), Bangladesh Campus of American World University, U.S.A, and Neural Institute of Science & Technology as a Lecturer. She served as Associate Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Law & Human Rights, University of Development Alternative (UODA) from April 2008 to December 2010. From January 2011 to April 2012, she served as Associate Professor and In-charge in the Department of Law, Uttara University.

In 2017, she received her PhD titled “Constitutional Responsibility of the Government of Bangladesh for Implementing Compulsory Primary Education: Issues & Challenges” at the University of Dhaka.
Her teaching areas are Legal Research Methodology, Human Rights Law, Criminology, Constitutional Law, Legal English (English for Law), Mooting & Debating, Gender & Law, International Environmental Law, International Organization, Refugee Law, Administrative Law, Good Governance and Research Monograph.
Professor Dr. Farhana has organized and presided over numerous seminars and published 50-plus publications on her area of expertise. She has written 4 books titled “Terrorism and Counter Terrorism: Legal Issues, Challenges and Responses”; “An Introduction to ADR Mechanism: Bangladesh Perspective”; “Human Trafficking: International and Bangladesh Perspective” and “LAW & LEGAL ENGLISH”.
Besides this, she was the Founder & Chief Advisor of Daffodil Moot Court Society (DMCS) and Moderator of Daffodil International University Debating Club (DIUDC).
