Captain (Navy) Shaikh Mohammad Salahuddin, (TAS), NGP, psc, MBA, PhD (fellow) joins Green University as Registrar

Captain (Navy) Shaikh Mohammad Salahuddin, (TAS), NGP, psc, MBA, PhD (fellow) joined Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) as the new Registrar on February 7, 2024 (Wednesday). Prior to this position, he served in different administrative, academic and leadership positions like Staff Officer Operations to Commander Dhaka Naval Area, Principal of Nou Bahini College, Dhaka & Chattogram, Chief Staff Officer to Commodore Special Warfare Diving & Salvage, Chief Staff Officer to Commander Submarine, Officer In charge of the Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) Training Institute and Commanding Officer of BNS TITUMIR.

After joining as Registrar of GUB, Professor Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed; Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of GUB; Deans and Chairpersons of different Faculties and Departments, and other GUB family members congratulated and welcomed him at the University campus. Captain Shaikh Mohammad Salahuddin joined the Bangladesh Navy on January 1, 1988, and was commissioned in the Executive (Operations) branch on July 1, 1990. He served for almost 33 years and 6 months in various appointments, including administrative, leadership, operations, training, evaluation, academic, planning, and security, both at home and abroad.
He retired from the Bangladesh Navy as Captain (equivalent to Colonel in the Army) on December 11, 2023. During his illustrious career, he served onboard various types of ships and establishments of Bangladesh Navy. He commanded three seagoing warships, including the major naval base BNS TITUMIR at Khulna. He worked as Staff Officer Operations to Commander Dhaka Naval Area, Chief Staff Officer to Commodore Special Warfare Diving & Salvage, and Chief Staff Officer to Commander Submarine. Captain Salahuddin was involved in the selection process of Armed Forces officer cadets at the Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB) both as Group Testing Officer (GTO) and Deputy President (DP) in two different tenures. He served as the Officer In charge of the Junior Commissioned Officers’ (JCO) Training Institute in Chattogram. Before his retirement, he served as the Principal of Nou Bahini College, Dhaka for more than three years.
As a peacekeeper, he served in United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) and South Sudan (UNMISS) as the Detachment Commander of Force Military Police Company and Contingent Commander of Bangladesh Force Marine Unit -3 (BANFMU-3) respectively. He was awarded the Force Commanders’ Commendation in recognition of outstanding service as Contingent Commander.

He is a graduate of Defence Services Command & Staff College, Mirpur. He has completed his Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the American International University – Bangladesh, majoring in Operation Management. Captain Salahuddin is also a PhD fellow at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).He underwent various professional courses and attended official seminar/ programme in Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, Russia and India. He was awarded the Peacetime Medal ‘Nau Gaurab Padak’ (NGP) for his remarkable achievements and bravery in the Bangladesh Navy. He has a special passion and aptitude for sports, specially lawn tennis and golf. He is a widely travelled person who visited Turkey, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, South Sudan, Sudan & Uganda. Captain Salahuddin is happily married and blessed with two sons.
