Dr. Mohammad Delwar Hussain | Green University of Bangladesh

Dr. Mohammad Delwar Hussain

Assistant Professor, Accounting

My academic profile is defined by a coherent progression of degrees in accounting, finance, and governance, with a focus on sustainability and institutional performance in emerging economies. I completed my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Malaysia, under a fully funded Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Education. My doctoral thesis examined how governance mechanisms influence institutional sustainability and the outreach to the poor in microfinance institutions in Bangladesh, contributing to debates in development finance, ESG, and institutional accountability.

I hold an MBA in Finance (CGPA 3.73/4.00), in which my dissertation analysed corporate governance practices in the microfinance sector, establishing the empirical foundation for my doctoral research. I also hold a BBA in Accounting, which provides a strong basis in financial reporting, control, and accountability, enabling me to approach sustainability and governance from an accounting and regulatory perspective.

Together, these academic degrees have shaped my research agenda around corporate governance, ESG, and the sustainable performance of SMEs and financial institutions in developing economies. My current work focuses on how governance quality, innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation affect financial, social, and environmental outcomes, aligning closely with the work of UK research groups in sustainability, responsible business, development economics, and institutional theory at Manchester, Warwick, Bristol, Leeds, and Nottingham. I am particularly interested in contributing comparative evidence from South Asia to UK-based research on governance, ESG, and inclusive growth.
